Come hear Nana Gyamfi (Executive Director of Black Alliance for Just Immigration and Professor of Pan African Studies at CSULA) and Dr. Suyapa Portillo (Professor of Chicana/o Latina/o Transnational Studies at Pitzer College) talk about immigration trends and treatment under our current administration. Bios to come!

11:30-12:20 Impacted Communities Roundtable
Learn about how immigrant detention not only affects the lives of families, but also how it trickles down into our local community. This panel hopes to center the voices of formerly detained folx/family members detained folx by giving them the platform to speak about their experiences.

12:30-1:00 Community Building Discussion
Learn about the work that the Claremont College student community is doing to support our immigrant community (featuring 5C Prison Abolition Collective and Claremont for Refugee Rights)

1:00-1:50 Break Out Trainings
Learn about the ways that you can personally get involved at Adelanto Detention Center lead by folx who have been engaging in this work. Workshops topics include alternatives to policing and accompaniment of folx on the inside.

2:00 Lunch
Enjoy some yummy paletas, tamales, and elotes made by folx of our beloved undocumented community while also continuing the conversation about getting involved personally through engaging with various organizations across Claremont and the Inland Empire!
