Economic Justice

The Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity is proud that we have been partners with the the San Francisco Foundation’s FAITHS Program over the past 3 years and have trained over 200 faith leaders around the Bay Area to be faith advocates for racial and economic equity. We have just completed a 3 part series in East Contra Costa County-Antioch (April 2016) where 32 people participated. We are in the middle of the series in West Contra Costa County – Richmond (May 2016), and will be conducting the series in South Alameda County-Hayward/Fremont (September 2016).

The trainings seek to increase the capacity and power of faith communities to advocate and organize for stable communities, fair policies and dignity for all. Training series is divided into 3 key themes at play in communities impacted by displacement and insecurity:
1)  Sacred Land:  Displacement, Housing and Community
2) Sacred Work:  Wages, Wealth & Equity
3) Sacred People: Removing the Barriers to Opportunity (Incarceration and Immigration)
The training roots issues of economic and racial justice firmly in our deepest faith traditions and calls on the gifts and power of faith communities to be engaged at the local level in being part of the solution.  At the hands-on, participatory trainings, participants are connected to resources, organizations and campaigns that they can support and shape to protect the well being of their communities.
