The Mercury News, “In Trump era, Bay Area churches offer sanctuary to undocumented immigrants”

February 5, 2017

Our team in the Bay Area is diligently working to provide Sanctuary to those in need.  The following article shares the story of a family that has been provided sanctuary in Bay Area with a congregation that is a part of our Sanctuary Team. The Mercury News detailed their experience and the work of our Sanctuary teams.  We are thankful that we have had the opportunity to not only provide sanctuary to those in need but to also train teams who are interested in providing sanctuary.

February 16: Rapid Response Mobilization Organizing Meeting

As the faith community, we must continue to stand in solidarity with immigrants and refugees as increased attacks come down from the Administration. We know from Trump’s Executive Orders and announcements that immigration enforcement will increase deportations and ICE raids have begun.  As faith allies, we are called to be in solidarity through rapid response mobilization to stop these raids, stop these deportations and support impacted communities. In the face of President Trump’s extremist anti-immigrant agenda we must respond with a prophetic and bold voice.

You are invited to attend our first organizing meeting taking place this coming Friday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Our host church is St, Mary of Magdalene Catholic Church which is located at;

8540 Weirick Road

Corona, CA 92883

The goals of our meeting are the following;

  • Counter this wave of terror through the immigrant community with a message of hope, faith and planned action within the immigrant communities in the Inland Valleys.
  • Organize a response to the  Administration’s’ attack on immigrants through faithful witness to disrupt raids and immigration enforcement through prayerful and prophetic presence.

We are counting on your leadership at this meeting and pray that if you cannot attend you will send someone who will be able to report back and engage in this organizing effort.
