Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity
“We’re causing twice the trauma to both the parents and their children,” said Hilda Cruz of the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity. “Can you imagine this? These children have gone through so much violence in their hometowns, and then they get to a place that doesn’t recognize them as human beings.”
Since 2011, the organization I lead, Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, has been organizing monthly vigils outside the detention center to pray and bear witness to stories like this, and to the pain, suffering and separation wrought by deportation. We gather to defend the deep conviction that migration is sacred and immigrants must be treated with dignity.
